Recipe: Chef Carla's Black and White Cookie Smoothie

This smoothie is like dessert in a glass. It’s for when you’re craving something sweet or want a 3PM chocolate fix. I love it with a shot of espresso in the afternoon. I recommend making it in a blender so it’s super creamy and delicious, but you can also put the powders in a to-go cup (a blender ball will help or you’ll have to stir vigorously).
This recipe is so easy that like the On-The-Go Smoothie, you can bring the dry powders straight through airport security or on a road trip — all you have to do is add the plant-based milk, an optional shot of espresso, and ice.
The chocolate sauce is a total bonus to this recipe but worth the effort! Pour it warm in the sides of the glass before you put the smoothie in and on top of the smoothie and you will get delicious chunks of chocolate (the coconut oil will harden when it hits the cold).
1 1/2 cup almond milk or preferred plant-based milk
1 scoop EVOLUTION_18 Afternoon Chocolate Protein Powder
1 scoop EVOLUTION_18 Overnight Vanilla Collagen Powder
1/8 tsp. salt
1 shot of espresso (optional)
- 3–5 ice cubes (optional)
Add the almond milk, protein powder, collagen powder, and shot of espresso to the blender. Blend on high until smooth (about 30–60 seconds).
Pour over the ice cubes.
- Drizzle with chocolate sauce.
This sauce is amazing drizzled into a cold smoothie. It is also delicious on fresh fruit like sliced bananas or eaten straight up out of the jar.
1/4 cup chocolate chips, like Hu Kitchen
1 tbsp. coconut oil, melted
1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. filtered water
- Pinch of salt
Heat in a saucepan until melted or 30–45 seconds in a microwave.
- Use immediately or store in an airtight container up to one week in the fridge.
