I’m so excited for my friend Joanna Coles and her new book, Love Rules: How to Find a Real Relationship in the Digital World. Serving as a guide to finding love in the age of dating apps and Instagram DMs, Joanna gives real, honest, and smart advice. No sugar coating here.

What I love most about her approach is the comparison between finding love and dieting. She calls this “a diet book for love.” She says in the book, “Food and love have so much in common. We have huge appetites for both. We can’t live without them. But not all food is created equal, and neither is all love.” I totally agree with her thinking.

I met my husband through a friend and knew immediately that he was the one for me, but I know that isn’t how it works for everyone. Joanna’s book lays it all out there, starting with her list of “love hacks.” Her aim is to get you looking inward and finding your self-worth, using dating apps or sites and actually meeting up people in real life (“Rule 6. You won’t get skinny by eating he same old sh-t”), cutting out what you don’t need, and slowing down to build a long lasting relationship.

This book isn’t just for millennials looking for love, it’s for men and women of all ages and backgrounds and it’s worth picking up a copy.
