Welcome to Lessons In Cool, a series all about the people we’re constantly inspired by. They are tastemakers, entrepreneurs, curators of style, thought leaders, and well, just cool.
Meet Saje Nicole. This multi-hyphenate has been inspiring us since she first walked on to the Jones Road set and we’re excited to celebrate her infectious energy and confidence with The Saje Set, a limited-edition custom set featuring Lip Tint, two shades of The Best Eyeshadow and The Oil Stick. These are our essentials for mastering no-makeup makeup this fall.
Saje Nicole, model, actress & entrepreneur
First thing you do in the morning:
Meditate and write in my journal.
I have overcome many challenges in my life, and now I think the challenge is how I can help others overcome their challenges. Whether it's through a podcast, book, or TikTok, I'm excited to step into that space more, even with an excellent series like this.
A woman you're inspired by + why:
Wilma Rudolph. Imagine growing up with polio and being told that you would barely be able to walk. Then have the audacity to win three gold medals in the Olympics for track & field. I love women that defy the odds and go after their dreams.
Last person, you texted:
My bestie (=
Most scrolled app or site:
Definitely Youtube; TikTok is slowly creeping up.
The beauty products you can’t live without:
For sure, my Jones Road Oil Stick. It gives me the most beautiful glow. I also can't live without the Jones Road Lip Tint for a quick upgrade to my look. Babor Collagen Booster Cream for moisturizer, Tatcha Beauty The Rice Wash, and Paula's Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant.
What do you love most about the products in your custom Saje Set?
I love how the oil stick gives me the healthiest glow. In combination with the Jones Road Face Pencil and What The Foundation, it doesn't look like you have makeup on. Just healthy glowing skin. That's the goal.
Your style icon?
Dorothy Dandridge and Princess Diana
Breakfast: Only coffee or yogurt with berries and granola.
Lunch: Cobb salad or Caesar salad with salmon.
Dinner: Chicken breasts, mashed sweet potato, and asparagus.
Cocktail: Cucumber mojito.
Workout: A nice run on the beach—or all of the workouts in my online program.
Advice you'd give your younger self:
BE BOLD. You only have one life, so take the time to figure out what you want to do and how to bless others with that gift every single day.
Your best beauty tip you've learned on set:
Cool two spoons in the fridge the night before and apply under the eyes to depuff in the morning. Golden!
What does "cool" mean to you?
Cool to me is Authentic. The girl that loves her freckles and shows them off, the teacher that lifts her students up and educates them, or the boy that decided to sing instead of becoming a lawyer. I think the coolest thing a person can do is show up as their authentic selves. There is so much beauty in that.
