One of the things I’ve loved most about my career in the beauty industry is getting to mentor, work with and collaborate with other entrepreneurs. I’ve known Hervé Claude Bernard since my days as editor-in-chief at Yahoo! Beauty. Introduced through a mutual photographer friend, he’s been my go-to hair stylist on set ever since.
Earlier this year, he came to me with questions about how to go about creating his own hair product and instead of just answering his questions, I took things a step further. I introduced him to our product developers and factories and once he landed on a formula, we decided to launch it together as the first hair product for Jones Road. I’m so excited to introduce you all to Universal Hair Balm, the Miracle Balm of hair products.
Hervé wanted to create a true all-in-one styling product that could be used across hair types and textures to enhance the hair’s natural qualities, the same way that Miracle Balm works to enhance the skin. Universal Hair Balm helps to enhance shine, control frizz, protect against heat damage, and repair split ends.
The formula is a unique blend of plant-derived proteins and amino acids that help to prevent breakage while keeping hair hydrated and nourished, plus castor Oil to help repair, revitalize and protect. It features a custom fragrance blend of orange blossom, agarwood, and white patchouli. It’s fresh and clean smelling without being overpowering. (If we ever do a Jones Road fragrance, I’m asking Hervé to create the scent.)
This lightweight product can be used on both wet and dry hair. I love using it on second day hair that needs some oomph. On wet hair, apply a quarter-sized amount to hands, working through hair from roots to ends. Add more product as needed. Blow dry or air dry and style as desired. If you have fine or oily hair, focus application on lengths and ends. For added hydration or to revive dry hair between wash days, apply a nickel-to-quarter sized amount to hands and work through hair, focusing on lengths and ends.
I can’t wait for you to get your hands on this product, it’s really a game changer when it comes to hair.
