The Ingredient: Argan Oil
What Is It?
You’ve probably heard it referred to as “liquid gold” and that’s not too far off. Argan oil, a staple for centuries in Moroccan cooking, has become a skincare essential in recent years. Derived from the nut produced by the argan tree, argan oil is packed with fatty acids and antioxidants that nourish and protect the skin.
What You Need to Know
It’s a myth that oils clog your skin or that oils don’t work with oily skin and if anything proves that, it's argan oil. Oils and oil-based products can be used across skin types to make skin look more luminous and add a serious dose of moisture.
Why We Love It
Argan oil contains high levels of linoleic acid, a skin loving omega-6 fatty acid, that can help reduce acne and redness, protect your lipid barrier, and soothe irritation. There’s also vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant that is used in formulations for it’s moisturizing properties and to help improve product stability by keeping the formula from oxidizing. (Get it? Antioxidant!)
