Beauty School: Natural Makeup for Gray Hair

I had been searching for months to find a model who totally rocked her age, hair and spirit, for the Jones Road campaign — and then I met Shona when I was shopping at my farmstand in the Hamptons. I asked her to take off her mask and gave her my number. She was exactly what I had been looking for: natural and outdoorsy, someone who owns their lines and their salt and pepper hair.
Fast forward to a week later and she was in my backyard doing a photoshoot. And this mother of five did not disappoint. As soon as I started applying the makeup, she came alive. I think this is just the beginning of her modeling career (she already has a few agents lined up). Here’s how to get her Tawny look:
Since we shot in the summer, being outside all day can leave skin dry, I added a little bit of moisturizer before applying Miracle Balm. I added a sheer layer to her cheeks, forehead, around her mouth and on her neck. It really enhanced her tan summer skin, which I loved.
To correct any darkness or discoloration, I used our soon-to-be-released Face Pencils. I love these because they don’t make it look like you’re wearing a full concealer, but they really help get rid of darkness under the eyes and correct any pesky sun spots. I applied a little more Miracle Balm on top of the Face Pencils by gently tapping it in. This helped keep the look natural.
I used a brown shadow to lightly fill in her brows and added a few coats of The Mascara. Simple and really pretty. We did another shot where I used The Best Pencil (coming soon) to line her eyes and added Just A Sec in Golden Peach to her lids, which is a great way to transition the look to night.
